Hi Everyone, I am very excited today as I have been playing with our new Go Press and Foil hot foil machine and this is my first hot foil card!! The machine works really well, the only thing I had to do was add a couple of sheets of card as shims so that the foil transferred perfectly. I started gently using a hot foil stamp directly onto card, and I am very happy with the results.

Hand Made Birthday Card with Stamped Background and Hot Foil Greeting

Take a  12.5cm square card blank, cut a piece of gold mirror card to 12cm square and layer that on the card blank. Cut a piece of turquoise card about 14cm square, this is bigger than you need, but it’s not easy to position the hot foil stamp perfectly so it means you can trim it down to size after you have done the foil stamping to make sure it is right in the centre of the card.

Ink up the wooden plank background stamp with Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide, lay the turquoise card down on the stamp and press it down all over making sure you use one hand to hold it in place. Lift the card off the stamp and let the ink dry whilst you are preparing your hot foil.

Turn the Go Press and Foil machine on and whilst it is still cold use the grid marks to position the hot foil stamp, leave the machine to come up to temperature, it takes about 5 minutes from cold. Cut a piece of heat activated foil, just a bit bigger than the stamp and lay that over the stamp, coloured side down, then lay your turquoise stamped card over that, add your sheets of card as shims, close the lid of the machine and leave it for about a minute for the foil to heat up. Take the base plate out of the machine and run it through your die cutting machine winding a little more slowly than you would to cut a die. Roll it through each way so that it gets two passes then return the base plate to the hot foil machine, open the lid and carefully remove the shims and your card. Peel the loose foil off the card and hey presto! you should be left with the gold lettering.

Trim the card down to 11cm square and layer onto the gold mirror card, add a few gold sequins and you have your card. I hope you like it, please leave a comment to let me know what you think, or feel free to ask any questions.
