Hi everyone, here’s another birthday card for my series of cards for children. They love action cards so a shaker card combined with a cute animal seemed perfect. The baby elephant is from a Woodware stamp set that we have had in stock for a while, but this is the first time I have had chance to use it.

Hand made birthday card with stamped elephant and balloon shaped shaker.

To Make the Card

Start with a white A6 blank card, cut a piece of pink card slightly smaller and a piece of white card slightly smaller again. Stamp the baby elephant in black at the bottom of the piece of white card and colour with marker pens or pencils. Use Nuvo Drops to add a small bead of colour to each of the tassels on the elephants blanket. I also added a small black Nuvo Drop dot to the elephant’s eye to make it shine.

Die cut a balloon shaped aperture from the top part of the card, above the elephant. Put the balloon shaker dome into the aperture and line the card up with the pink card underneath, hold the shaker dome in place and carefully lift away the white card. Mark the position of the shaker dome with a pencil. Pour a selection of coloured seed beads onto the pink card where the shaker dome will be, put a thin layer of glue around the rim of the balloon shaker, position it on to the pink card where you have marked it, making sure that all the tiny beads are inside. Weight it down with a book or something similar and leave for an hour or so until the glue is completely dry and the shaker dome is firmly in place.

Ink the edges of the white card with the stamped elephant lightly with pink ink then place it over the balloon shaker and glue in place. Die cut a small tail for the balloon from pink card and glue in place, then hand draw the balloon string with a black marker pen. Stamp the Happy Birthday in black on a strip of pink card, cut the ends diagonally. Adhere this to yellow card and cut this on the same diagonal with yellow card showing at each end. Use adhesive foam pads to attach this to the card front.

So there it is a sweet card that would work equally well for adults and children. I’m glad I finally got to use this stamp set, I am sure it will be out again before too long. I hope you like this card, please leave a comment to let me know what you think. All the products used are linked below
