Hi everyone, today I wanted to try out the Zigzag Border die set that we recently got in stock. There are lots of ways to use these dies, I decided to use them to create a decorative panel.

Hand made birthday card with die cut zigzag background, die cut flowers and leaves with glitter

The edges of the flowers and some of the leaf stems have a glitter finish, here’s a closer look. Read on for the instructions.

To Make the Card

Start with a 6″ x 6″ white blank card, layer this with pink, pale peach and white card. Use a pair of the Zigzag dies to cut zigzag strips, one from patterned paper, two each from pink and pale peach card. I found it easier to use some masking tape to hold the two dies together to do this. Lay the zigzag strips face down with the patterned one in the middle, then the peach and the pink. Use a couple of strips of adhesive tape to join them together. Trim the zigzag panel to the same width as the layer of white card, trim it so that the centre peak is in the middle of the card. Glue this panel to the card front, about a third of the way down.

Die cut three solid flowers in different sizes from the patterned paper. Choose parts of the paper where the colours co-ordinate with the rest of the card. Die cut two longer leaf stems from white card. Peel the backing off a piece of double sided adhesive sheet. Adhere this to some white card and die cut three flower frames and two smaller leaf stems. Glue the flower frames to the solid flowers, peel the backing paper off the flower frames and the leaves. Sprinkle ultra fine diamond glitter all over them. The glitter will stick to the adhesive paper. Glue the three layers of the flower together.

Adhere the leaf stems to the zigzag panel, then adhere the flower on top of them. Stamp the Happy Birthday greeting in the bottom right hand corner of the card. Add a pink self adhesive crystal to the flower centre and others to the top and bottom of the card.

I am very pleased with the way this card turned out, I love the stitched zigzag panel. The Cosmos flowers are rapidly becoming a favourite, especially with the glitter finish. Thank you for visiting, I hope you like it too. If you want to try it for yourself all the products used are linked below.
