Hi everyone, I nearly always make a poinsettia card at the start of the Christmas card season, it really gets me into the Christmas spirit. I decided to go for a white one to start with, and to keep the colour scheme simple, added only gold and green.

Hand made Christmas card with a white die cut poinsettia, embossed snowfall background and stamped greeting.

To Make The Card

Take a piece of white card approx. 12cm square and emboss it with the Snowfall embossing folder. Take a second piece of white card 13.5cm square and die cut a 9.5cm circle from the centre of it. Layer a 6″ x 6″ white blank card with gold card, then the embossed piece and finally the circle aperture piece. Cut two pieces of card, one white and one gold sized 14.75cm x 5cm. Die cut each piece with a fancy border, then glue them together with the gold offset under the white. Adhere this across the top of the card.

To make the flower, die cut the largest set of petals once from green card and twice from white. Cut one each of the smaller sizes of petals in white. Use a pencil or bamboo skewer to roll and shape the petals so that they are curved. Glue the layers together with the green at the bottom then the white, so that the petals overlap. Put a green and gold adhesive crystal in the centre to finish it off. Use 2mm foam tape to adhere the poinsettia to the bottom left corner of the card, overlapping the circle aperture. Die cut two pieces of green foliage and two gold berry stems and glue them either side of the flower. Tuck them under the flower and leave the ends unglued to add some dimension.

Stamp the sentiment on white card and layer it on to a strip of gold card. Adhere this to the right side of the card. Use glue where it touches the edge of the card and 1mm foam pads where it rests on the embossed background.

I like the simple colour scheme of the card and am delighted to have found green card, a crystal and ink pad that all matched! Thank you for visiting, I hope you like it too. All the supplies used are detailed below.
