Hi, I used a technique that I have never tried before to make the two colour panel underneath the tree. It is very easy and I like the results, I am sure I will use it again. Thinking of You is a useful sentiment that could be used to send a message of encouragement to anyone who is going through a difficult time. The stamp is from a set by WOW! called Happiest Day and is something else I will definitely use again.

To Make The Card

First make the two colour panel, take a large acrylic stamping block and smoosh distress oxide ink onto it in Worn Lipstick and Peeled Paint. Spritz the ink with water enough to make it bead up but not running off the block. Turn the block over and press onto a piece of white watercolour card stock. Leave this to dry naturally or speed it up by using a heat gun.

Cut two pieces of white card one 10.25cm x 14.5cm and another 9.75cm x 14cm. Ink the edges of the larger piece with Worn Lipstick, to give a good solid colour. Do the same to the smaller piece with Peeled Paint, this one needs an inked margin of about 1.5cm all round. This is an easy way to make your matting and layering co-ordinate exactly with the ink colours that you have used for the centre panel. Layer these two pieces onto a white A6 blank card. Trim the watercolour card stock to 7.5cm x 11cm and mount on white card stock, adhere this in the centre of the card.

Die cut the bare tree from black card and adhere to the inked panel towards the left side. Leave the ends of the branches unglued so they curve up a bit and add some texture. Stamp the sentiment in black on white card, trim it into a tenant shape and adhere to the lower right hand part of the card next to the tree trunk.

The inking technique is very easy and gives a great result, you could use lots of different colour combinations, or more than two colours. I also like the stark contrast of the black tree, but again you could experiment with different colours for different effects. I hope you like the card and are inspired to give the inking technique a try for yourself. All the products used are linked below.
