Hi Everyone, the birth flowers for August are poppies, such a beautiful distinctive flower, it is easy to make colorful attractive cards with them. As a well known flower it is not too difficult to find poppy related supplies, giving you a wealth of options for your poppy cards.

The first card uses a poppy clear stamp and the traditional black and red poppy colors.

I used a 15 x 15cm white card blank, cut red and white card into layers, then die cut circular apertures in the centre of the red and white card.

I stamped the poppies in the centre of the die cut apertures directly onto the card blank using black ink and colored the poppies with a red marker pen.

Again using black ink, I stamped parts of the poppies around the bottom of the white layer of card.

The greeting is a small black peel off Happy Birthday inside the circular aperture.

Materials used:

For the second card I used a die cut card topper from the Hunkydory Pretty Poppies set. I mounted the circular topper on two larger circles of gold mirror card then trimmed off one side to give a straight edge.
I layered dark red textured card and gold card onto an A6 white card blank and positioned the card topper at the right hand edge of the card.
The card topper sheet comes with another printed sheet which you can fold to use as a card blank, however I decided to cut a strip from this instead to make the greeting co-ordinate perfectly with the background of the poppies. The message itself is a black peel off.
Materials used:
For my third card I used the same Swirly Poppies stamp as for the first card but chose a different color combination this time.
I cut a strip of white card and blended distress inks to create the background using Fired Brick and Scattered Straw. Then I stamped the poppies repeatedly across the panel in black ink. The panel is mounted on black card and then on a white A6 card blank with a black peel off message below. A simple but striking card.
Materials used:
I hope you like these three poppy cards, I certainly enjoyed making them and am pleased with the way they turned out.
Thank you for visiting, please leave a comment to let me know what you think.
