Christmas Tree Shaker Card with Glitter Jewels Snowfall Effect

Hi everyone, here’s a clean and simple designs for a Christmas shaker card. I am a big fan of blue and silver for Christmas so that was my first choice colour scheme for this card.

Hand made Christmas shaker card with Christmas tree shaped shaker and snow glitter

I started with an A6 white blank card and added layers of dark blue and silver card. I cut a piece of white card to the size of another layer and positioned the Christmas tree outline die to cut the aperture for the Christmas Tree shaker dome.

Once the Christmas tree outline was cut I used a Polka Dot embossing folder to add some texture to the layer.
Then I cut a Christmas Tree from blue card using the Baubles centre.

At this point I positioned the white overlay on the card, then put the blue Christmas tree inside it and lifted off the white overlay holding the blue Christmas tree in place so that I could mark it’s position.

I then glued the blue Christmas tree onto the silver background using the positions that I had marked and poured some Glitter Jewels onto the tree.

You can see in the photo that a few flakes have strayed on to the silver card, carefully brush these away before adding glue to the rim of the Christmas Tree Shaker Dome and positioning it over the die cut tree.

Once the shaker dome was in place I could stick down the die cut and embossed layer (remember to die cut before you emboss otherwise the die cutting will flatten your embossing) over the shaker dome to cover the edges.

The greeting is a silver peel off Christmas message on blue card cut with angled ends to kind of match the angles of the Christmas tree. The Three Trees Die cutting set also includes a die for a small star so I cut one in silver and added it to the top of the tree.

Having written this it sounds a bit complicated but once you try it you will see it is actually very easy 😊

I am so pleased with this card mainly because it’s my own design of shaker dome which is exciting! I would love to hear what you think so please leave a comment below to let me know.
Thanks for reading all this.

  1. Thanks Carol, I'm really pleased with the way the new dome shapes have turned out and having cutting dies that match them makes it so easy to get a nice neat finish. 🙂
