Hi Everyone, here’s another card with Birch Press dies, this time I have used only one layer of the Sevilla set to create a trellis effect to go over the inked background. I really wanted to show that although you can create a whole card with the dies you can also combine them with other techniques to create something a bit different.

Hand made card with distress oxide inked background, Birch Press Sevilla die cut trellis and die cut butterfly.

The card base measures 4.25 x 5.5 inches (American sizing to match the die) so either cut and score white card or trim down a 5 x 7 inch blank card.

Cut a piece of white card the same size as the card front (I used water colour card). Smoosh three colours of distress oxide on to a craft mat and spritz with water. Dip and dabble the water colour card in the ink, then dry with a heat gun. Use a foam ink blending tool to apply ink directly from the ink pad to areas of the card that are not covered or where you want more depth of colour. Spritz again so that the colours blend and dry again. Adhere to the card front.

From the Birch Press Sevilla die set use the Layer A die to cut white card into a framed trellis design, adhere this over the inked background.

Cut a strip of white vellum 4.25 x 1.5 inches, stamp the greeting in pink ink towards the right hand end. (The ink can take a long time to dry on vellum so speed it up with a heat gun). Use tiny strips of double sided tape to adhere the vellum to the edges of the card.

Create a second, smaller piece of inked card using the same colours and method as above, die cut a butterfly from this bend the wings slightly where they join the body to turn the upwards, add two pink adhesive crystals to the body and use double sided tape to adhere this to the vellum strip.

This is a really versatile card design that could have any colour scheme and any greeting to make it suit various recipients and occasions. I love the die cut design over the brightly coloured background. All supplies are linked below.
Thank you for visiting, I hope you like it too.
