Here’s a Christmas card with a die cut silver snowflake mounted partially on acetate. Use acetate in the background so that the snowflake looks as though it is floating. I used acetate with a printed snowfall design, but plain acetate would work just as well.

Hand made Christmas card with a die cut silver snowflake

I took another picture of the card standing up, so that the acetate shows up a bit better.

Create the Card Base

The card base is an A6 size tent fold, cut from white card. I cut two thirds off the front of the card then cut the piece that I removed in half, so that it can be used at the bottom of the card front. Cut the snowfall acetate to A6 size and glue it behind the flap that was created at the top of the card. Glue the one third size piece of white card was over the bottom portion of the acetate to create the window. Add layers to the two white areas of the card front with silver card, then with a snowflake patterned paper, to build up the design.

Add the Finishing Touches

Die cut the large snowflake from silver card and glue it in place in the centre of the card. I added a large 5mm adhesive crystal to the centre of the silver snowflake and smaller adhesive crystals to the centres of some of the snowflakes on the patterned paper.

The greeting came from a sheet of die cut Christmas greetings in silver and white. I used a sanding block to remove the notches that had held it in place on the sheet. Use a Sharpie pen to add a small silver border to the edges of the sentiment which can be attached with 1mm adhesive foam pads.

I like the way the card has depth and texture, the snowflake die is one of my Christmas favourites. Click here to see more cards using this die. Thank you for visiting, I hope you like it too, you can find links to all the products used in the list below.
