Hi Everyone, here’s a birthday card for a man, using the Sizzix Texture Fades Foundry 3D embossing folder for the background. I like to keep cards for men fairly simple and I really like the uncluttered look of this one. It also gave me chance to try the new Woodware Word Fragments clear stamp set which is going to become a firm favourite of mine I am sure.

Birthday card for a man with a 3D embossed background and stamped greeting.

To Make the Card

Start with a white A6 blank card and layer that with black card. Cut silver card to 10cm x 14.25cm and emboss with the 3D embossing folder. The correct “sandwich” for the slightly thicker 3D embossing folders is given inside the packaging but if you no longer have that, you should use the platform with the pink tab and only one of the clear cutting pads.

Adhere the embossed piece on top of the black card. Die cut a strip of black card, swipe it with an anti static pad and stamp the greeting in the centre. Heat emboss the greeting with silver embossing powder. Adhere this to the card front using 2mm foam tape. Take two 3mm self adhesive pearls and colour them with a silver Sharpie pen, attach one at either end of the sentiment strip.

This is a very straight forward card to make, but has great impact created by the 3D embossing. You can soften the look a little by using dark blue card instead of black or change the colours altogether and use brown and gold or grey and copper, all of which would still be great for a masculine looking card.

Thank you for visiting, I hope you like the card, please leave a comment to let me know what you think.
