Stamped Flowers and Die Cut Frame Birthday Card

Hi Everyone, here’s a birthday card using one of the recent Woodware stamps called Petal Trio. I used the stamp twice on this card, once for the background image and again to make the flowers.

Hi Everyone, here’s a birthday card using one of the recent Woodware stamps called Petal Trio. I used the stamp twice on this card, once for the background image and again to make the flowers. The relatively simple shape of the flowers makes them easy to cut out and use as an embellishment.

To Make the Card

Start with a white 6 x 6 inch white blank card and layer it with purple card, then lilac card. Stamp the whole Petal Trio image on the lilac card using silver pigment ink. Die cut a stitched rectangle frame from silver card and position this over the stamped image so that some of the leaves are outside the framed area. Colour the leaves outside the frame in green with a marker pen or pencil.

Stamp the flowers again this time using black ink on white card. Use marker pens or pencils to colour the flowers in shades of purple and lilac to co-ordinate with the card layers. Cut out the flowers by hand, discarding the leaves. Arrange the flowers around the corner of the frame, layering them to conceal the incomplete edges of the two smaller flowers. This also helps to add dimension to your card. Use thin, adhesive foam pads to raise the flowers above the frame and slightly thicker adhesive foam to raise the main flower above the others.

The greeting comes from a sheet of die cut sentiments, pop it out from the sheet and smooth away any notches with a sanding block. Use a very pale lilac marker pen to soften the whiteness of the background, then use adhesive foam pads to adhere it across the frame.

I am very happy with the way this card turned out, and the Woodware stamp lived up to expectations. You could easily change the colour scheme and greeting to use it for a range of occasions.

Thank you for visiting.
