Hi Everyone, it seems very strange to be making a Christmas card in the middle of a mini heatwave in September, not at all seasonal. I used three new products from the Creative Expressions Christmas range, which all seem to work well together.

Hand made Christmas card with die cut fairy lights and embossed snowfall background.

To Make The Card

Start with a 7″ square white blank card, and layer it with red card. Cut a piece of white card 16.5cm square and emboss it with the Snowfall embossing folder. Adhere this over the red card. There are lots of ways that you can make the fairy lights, I wanted a shiny/glittery look so decided to heat emboss some card and make them from that.

Take 3 small pieces of white card, press the first one into a Versamark ink pad, sprinkle with red glitter embossing powder and heat set so that you have a piece of card that can be die cut. Repeat this process with green and silver embossing powder, then die cut three lights from each colour. Die cut two of the light strings and 9 caps for the lights from black card. Glue the black caps on to the light bulbs.

Die cut a rectangle with clipped corners from white card. Die cut the sentiment twice from red card and glue one on top of the other to give some extra dimension. Adhere the sentiment to the rectangle and adhere it to the top left hand corner of the card.

Arrange the light strings so that they go below and beside the sentiment panel, you will need to trim some bits off and create a join to make it look like one long one. Adhere the lights in alternating colours to the ends and the loops on the string. Use 1mm adhesive foam pads to attach the lights so that the caps sit over the light string. Finally add two groups of red pearls to the sentiment panel to finish it off.

I love the fairy lights on the card, there are so many things you can do with them, and so many different colours that you could use. I hope you like the card, please leave a comment to let me know what you think. Thank you for visiting, all the products used are linked below.
