Hi, here’s the last of my series of birthday cards for children. Once upon a time this would have been viewed as a card for boys but today it could just as easily be a card for a young girl. Putting the child’s age as the shirt number is a great way to personalise the card too. I chose red for the shirt as it stands our well against the black and white of the background, another nice touch would be to use the colour of the recipients favourite team.
To Make The Card
Start with a white 12.5cm x 12.5cm blank card, layer it with green then black card. Cut a piece of white card 11cm x 11cm and emboss it with the Chicken Wire embossing folder. Use the die that comes with the folder to die cut hexagon shapes from black card. Glue the black hexagons into alternate embossed spaces to make a football style background. Adhere this to the card front.
Die cut a football from black card, cut a circle of white card the same size and glue it to the back of the football. Cut the football shirt in red card and the numbers in white, glue the numbers to the shirt. Use the same green card as used for the layering and cut a strip of grass. Trim the length of the grass strip to 11.5cm. Use adhesive foam pads to attach the football in the bottom left hand corner of the card. Do the same with the grass strip, position it so that it slightly overlaps the football. Use foam pads again to adhere the football shirt, above the grass and to the right side of the card.
The black and white birthday Wordies tie in perfectly with this colour scheme. Cut a Happy Birthday sentiment strip from the sheet, then run a black marker pen around the edges. This will hide any of the white core of the card. Mount the sentiment on the same green card and adhere with foam pads in the top left corner.
A great card for boys and girls of all ages, that is easy to personalise. I think a lot of adults would be happy to receive it too. Thanks for dropping in, I hope you like it. All the products used are linked below.
