Hi, the blue/green inked background isn’t a typical Christmas colour choice, but it really makes the super glittery holly, and the red berries and sentiment pop. I hadn’t originally planned to make the sentiment red, but when I saw how good the holly berries looked I knew that’s what it needed.

To Make The Card

Cut a piece of watercolour card to 10.25cm x 14.5cm. Blend the ink colours from the top left hand corner down and across the card leaving the bottom right hand corner clear. Apply the inks quite lightly at first so that the colour is not too dark. When you are happy with the inking, splatter it lightly with water and press with kitchen paper to dry it and lift the colour away slightly. Smoosh some of the Faded Jeans ink on a waterproof surface, spritz with a little water and mix to create a liquid ink. Dip a fine paint brush into the ink and flick it on to the inked area. Once it is all dry adhere it to the front of a white A6 blank card.

Die cut two holly branches from white card. Spread glue on the stems and leaves, leaving some of the leaf edges and tips uncovered. Sprinkle the chunky glitter over the leaves, press gently to make sure it sticks and shake off the excess. Glue the two holly branches over the inked area, with the stem of the lower one tucked under one of the leaves above to make it look like a single branch. Cut four berry clusters from bright red card and glue them on to the holly branches, where the leaves join the stems. Use the same red card to die cut the Noel sentiment twice. Glue one on top of the other to give a bit of extra depth and glue it in place in the un-inked corner of the card front.

This is such a lovely card and not difficult to make. I haven’t used this chunky glitter before but love the effect so will no doubt be using it again soon. I hope you like the card as much as I do, thank you for visiting. All the products used are linked below.
