Hi, I have seen quite a few cards around with a truck carrying Christmas trees, and although I think it is quite an American thing, it is familiar enough here in the UK to use on a Christmas card. I wanted the truck to look like it was driving down the snowy slope. I think I got the angle a bit wrong and it does look a lot like it is running away, out of control!!!!

To Make The Card

The size of the card is dictated by the size of the dies that cut the winter trees and the snowy hillside so it is not a standard size card. I used a 7″ x 7″ blank card and cut it down to 13cm x 16cm. Add a layer of red card, then cut a piece of white card 12cm x 15cm. Use a foam ink blending tool to add blue ink all over the white card. Don’t try to get the colour too even as it looks more like sky with lighter and darker areas. Once it is inked splatter it with water and dab with a dry cloth or kitchen paper, to lift dots of ink and make it look like falling snow. Adhere the inked panel to the card.

Die cut the winter trees and the snowy hillside from white card. Glue the trees over the inked layer, then the hillside over the bottom of the trees. Die cut the truck from red card, the wheels from black card and the wheel trims from matt silver card. Glue all the car parts together then adhere to the card front, perhaps in a slightly more level position than mine ;). Use green card to die cut two small Christmas trees, glue them in place in the back of the truck. Stamp the sentiment in red on a strip of white card. Adhere across the tree trunks, above the truck, using thin foam pads.

I am happy with the way this turned out, despite the runaway truck. I hope you like it too. If you want to try it for yourself, all the products used are linked below. Thanks for visiting.
