Hi Everyone, I liked this Woodware Bon Voyage stamp set as soon as I saw it, it’s great for masculine cards and really lends itself to a vintage style. There aren’t many ingredients for the card as the same stamps and colours were used throughout.

Hand made vintage style nautical themed birthday card

Start with a cream A6 blank card, cut a piece of brown card slightly smaller and a piece of parchment paper smaller still. Use the old map stamp from the Bon Voyage set and stamp all over the parchment paper with Crafters Sand ink to create a background, turn the stamp around and let some of the stamping overlap as you do it. Ink lightly around the edges and adhere to the brown card.

Cut another piece of parchment paper slightly bigger than the vintage map stamp and a piece of brown card slightly bigger again. Stamp the map in sepia ink onto the parchment, ink around the edges quite heavily with Walnut Stain distress oxide ink. Layer this on to the brown card, and adhere it to the background piece towards the top left hand corner.

Die cut an anchor from card, press it into an embossing ink pad, sprinkle all over with gold embossing powder and heat until the powder is melted and has covered the anchor. Cut a length of Natural paper cord approx 45 cms, split the two strands that make up the cord, run one of them tightly through your fingers to smooth it out and flatten it, then wrap this around the the background panel from top to bottom, thread the anchor on to it and tie in a small bow. Use a high bond double sided tape to attach the whole panel to the front of the card.

Stamp the sailing ship in sepia ink on parchment paper and trim to size approx 7.3 x 4.5 cms, ink the edges with Walnut Stain distress oxide ink and layer onto brown card. Attach this to the bottom portion of the map panel.

Finally stamp the Happy Birthday greeting, again in sepia ink on parchment paper, ink the edges with Walnut Stain and layer onto brown card. Add two 3mm adhesive pearls coloured with a gold Sharpie and adhere to the bottom of the card with 1mm adhesive foam pads.

I like the finished look of this card, the anchor and the coloured pearls add just enough decoration. It would look good in other colours such as navy blue or a very dark maroon/burgundy too. I hope you like it too. Thanks for visiting.
