Hi everyone, here is the second of my cards using the Christmas Candles stamp and die set, (to see the first card and information about the set click here). This time I used both dies to cut out the whole stamped image and use it as a card topper on a more traditional style card.

Hand made Christmas card with stamped and die cut candles and embossed background

Start with an A5 white blank card and trim it down to 14.5 x 19.2cm, ink the edges of the card front with Tea Dye Distress Ink, layer this with dark green card. Cut a piece of white card approximately 18.5 x 13.7cm and emboss it with the Holly Swirls 3D embossing folder.

Using your finger or a soft cloth, gently rub gold metallic gilding wax all over the embossed areas, don’t try to get it into every nook and cranny, instead use a foam ink blending tool and Tea Dye Distress Ink to go over the whole thing and fill in any remaining white areas, giving it a real aged appearance.

Die cut an oval shape from red card and spritz it all over with gold glimmer mist, cut a smaller oval from white card and ink the edges with Tea Dye Distress Ink. Stamp the candle image in black on white card and colour with marker pens or pencils. Use both dies to cut out the whole image and ink all around the edges with Tea Dye ink, layer the two oval shapes and adhere the die cut candles to the bottom left area of the ovals. Use foam mounting pads to attach the ovals to the centre of the card.

Stamp the Seasons Greetings message in clear ink on a small strip of white card, heat emboss with gold embossing powder and ink the edges with Tea Dye ink. Cut a slightly larger piece of red card and spritz with gold glimmer mist, mount the greeting strip on top and adhere to the ovals to finish the card.

I love the traditional style of this card and the texture and dimension that is created by the 3D embossing folder. Links to all the products used are given below. Please let me know what you think in the comments area.
