Good Morning
A couple of years ago when we first got this fabulous poinsettia die set in stock, I made quite a lot of cards with it, then last year I didn’t use it so much so this year I have dusted it off and put it to use again starting with this card. I wanted a classic red poinsettia on a white background, the two layers and embossing on the background add some texture and of course the lovely poinsettia give plenty of dimension. Instead of the proper poinsettia leaves, I opted for some assorted die cut winter foliage.

Hand made Christmas card with die cut poinsettia and snowflake on white embossed background
I started with a 6 x 6 white blank card, I cut two pieces of white card approx, 14.5cm x 10cm and 14.5cm x 8cm, I embossed the bigger piece with the Holly Flourish embossing folder and die cut a fancy curved border into the smaller piece. I glued both pieces to the card base with the curved border overlapping the embossed piece.
I die cut a large snowflake from white card, 4 layers of poinsettia from red card and various pieces of holly and pine branch from dark green card. Before assembling the poinsettia I twirled each petal around a bamboo skewer to give them a curved shape, once they were glued together I added a self adhesive natural pearl to the centre.
I glued the snowflake in place overlapping the two halves of the background, arranged the die cut foliage on top of that and finally added the poinsettia with a piece of adhesive foam tape. I popped the greeting out of the pre-cut sheet and gently sanded away the notches before attaching that to the card with adhesive foam pads.
I am really pleased with the result, the poinsettia stands out beautifully against the white background and the embossing stops it from being too plain. Thank you for reading, I hope you like it too. All supplies are linked below.
