Hi Everyone, hope you are all staying well. Here’s a pretty birthday card made with the Spellbinders Richelieu Flourished Fretwork Die Set, which is a gorgeous set that I am sure I will use over and over again.

To Make the Card

Start with a 12.5cm square white card blank, layer this with gold card 12.25cm square and turquoise card 11.75cm square. Use the largest square die from the set, cut a square of cream coloured card. Use the same square die combined with square cut out die to cut a dark pink piece with a solid centre and the square cut out design around the edge.

Adhere all these layers to the front of the card. Combine the smaller square die with the fancy die together to cut a decorative square from turquoise card. Use the circle die to cut a solid circle of cream coloured card. Use the circle die together with the fancy circle die to cut a decorative circle from gold card, and adhere both circles to the front, centre of the card.

The six dies that make up the Richelieu Flourished Fretwork set.

Cut two flourishes from gold card and two leaf stems from cream card. Create a flower cluster with a cream flower, cream grape hyacinth stems and small paper flowers in pink and turquoise. I replaced the cream stamen in the turquoise flowers with adhesive gold gems, and replaced the yellow stamen in the pink flowers with the white ones from the turquoise flowers, to keep everything within the colour scheme. Arrange the flowers, flourishes and leaves to the left side of the centre circle.

Pop the die cut greeting out of it’s sheet and smooth away the notches with a fine sanding block. Use a marker pen to colour the white background to co-ordinate with the rest of the design. Adhere this across the centre of the card using foam pads to raise it up.

This is such a versatile die set which you can use in various ways to create different layers. I like the way the addition of gold card just adds a luxurious feel to the whole thing. It would be great to hear your comments on both the card and the die set. Thank you for visiting.
