Hi Everyone, here’s a Christmas card using the Nellie Snellen Trees 3D embossing folder. This is a great 6″ x 6″ embossing folder with a line of trees. The tree trunks are quite long leaving plenty of space to add other elements to your design. I wanted to keep it quite simple for this card so only added a stamped and die cut greeting and some adhesive crystals.

Hand made Christmas card with embossed vellum background and die cut and stamped greeting.

To Make the Card

Start with a white A6 blank card, and layer it with dark blue card. Cut a piece of white vellum 13.0cm x 9.7cm and a piece of light grey card the same size. Emboss the vellum using the Trees 3D embossing folder. Adhere the vellum to the grey card using small pieces of double sided tape. The tape is likely to show through the vellum to try to put it where the embossed design is quite dense. Other bits that show can be covered with the adhesive crystals and the sentiment. Adhere the embossed panel to the card front.

Die cut the word Merry twice once from silver mirror card and once from dark blue card. Adhere them on top of one another to give the sentiment a 3D appearance. Stamp the word Christmas with embossing ink on dark blue card, then heat emboss with opaque white embossing powder. Trim around the word to make a small strip. Adhere the blue strip to the card then adhere the die cut word so that the bottom of some of the letters slightly overlaps the blue strip. Add self adhesive clear crystals to disguise any visible tape and to add some extra sparkle.

I love the way the embossed vellum becomes opaque white on the raised areas, putting it over the light grey card gives it a kind of frosted glass appearance. I hope you like the card, thank you for visiting.
