Hi Everyone, I tried a new technique for the background of this card, it started out like others that I have made with stencilled texture paste but then I let it dry and coloured it with ink. The dry texture paste takes the ink really well and gives lovely colours.

To Make the Card

The festive stencil that I used for this card isn’t quite wide enough to cover the front of an A6 card so I made two stencilled panels then cut them and joined them underneath the greeting. To do this start with a piece of white card approximately 12cm x 20cm. Lay the stencil on the card and fix in position with stencil tape. Spread the texture paste evenly over the stencil, then lift it away. Repeat the process on the other half of the card. Leave the texture paste to dry for a couple of hours or preferably overnight.

When the texture paste is dry, replace the stencil so that only the raised areas are visible, then use a foam ink blending tool to apply the ink. Use a cotton bud for the smaller areas. Replacing the stencil keeps the background white. Take a white A6 blank card and layer it with gold card. Cut the stencilled pieces to fit over the gold layer, with the join towards the lower half of the card. Adhere the gold card and the stencilled pieces to the card blank.

Stamp the greeting onto white card and heat emboss with gold embossing powder. Cut the greeting strip to the same width as the stencilled layer, then cut a piece of gold card the same width but about half a centimetre deeper. Adhere the white sentiment strip over the gold strip and adhere them to the card front to cover the join between the stencilled panels.

The stencilling adds lots of texture to this card, and bright pops of colour from the red berries for a very festive feel. I hope you like it, thank you for visiting.
