Hi everyone, time to get some Fathers Day cards made, cards for men are notoriously difficult but I thought the embossed foil was a great way to add some texture and shine to the card but still keeping a masculine feel to it. Instructions and product links are below.

Hand made Fathers Day card with dry and heat embossed foil technique

To Make the Card

Cut a piece of black card stock 21cm x 14.75cm, score and fold it to create an A6 card blank, layer it with taupe card.

Take a piece of silver craft foil, dry emboss it with a swirls embossing folder. With an embossing ink pad gently swipe it over various areas of the embossed foil, take care not to flatten the embossed design. Sprinkle the inked areas with gold embossing powder, shake off the excess and set with a heat gun. Repeat this process with copper embossing powder. If you use a rectangular ink pad you might get some straight edges to your inking, you will be able to see them when you have added the embossing powder. Gently rub any straight edges with your finger to blur them before you heat set the embossing powder.

When you are happy with your heat embossing, rub it all over with a black ink pad. This will let the black ink collect in the textured areas that the heat embossing has created. You can buff it slightly with a dry cloth to remove ink from the raised areas.
Trim a piece of the embossed foil to 7cm x 10cm, mount on black card and attach to the card front approx 1.5cm in from the left hand side.

For the greeting, trim a piece of black card to 7.25cm x 4.25cm, stamp the greeting in embossing ink and heat emboss with gold embossing powder. Cut a small strip of the embossed foil and attach that below the greeting. Mount the whole thing on taupe card and attach to the card across the embossed foil and the background. So there you have it, I’m pretty pleased with it, I love the effect of the embossed foil it seems to strike just the right note for a Fathers day card.
