Hi Everyone, this card was made by Garcia our guest designer who always manages to come up with something unusual. This time she used the Cog Butterfly stamp over an inked background. An eye catching design, that would appeal to both male and female recipients.

Hand made birthday card with stamped and embossed cog butterfly and inked background.

To Make the Card

Take a white 5 x 7 inch blank card and layer it with light turquoise, then dark yellow card. Cut a piece of watercolour card slightly smaller than the yellow layer. Use a stamp positioning tool to position the butterfly stamp in the centre of the watercolour card. Swipe the watercolour card with an anti-static pad. Apply silver ink to the cogs on the butterfly wing and stamp. Sprinkle clear embossing powder over the silver ink. Cover the cogs on the stamp with masking tape and ink the rest of the stamp with black. Stamp the remainder of the butterfly and again sprinkle with embossing powder. Heat set all the embossing powder with a heat gun.

Smoosh some Peacock Feathers ink onto a craft mat and spritz with water, press the watercolour card into the ink. Dry it with a heat gun. Repeat this process with the two other colours of ink until you are happy with the coverage. Remember to dry between each colour to stop them mixing. The embossed butterfly will resist the ink leaving the image intact.

Stamp the Happy Birthday sentiment that is included with the butterfly onto a piece of light turquoise card and mount it on yellow card. Use adhesive foam pads to attach it to the bottom right corner of the card. This fabulous, unusual stamp is just right to take centre stage on this card, with a beautifully coloured background.
