Hi Everyone, here’s a cheery card with a strong summer vibe. The die cut elements are all made with dies from the Nellie Snellen Sky Scene die set, a really useful set to have. I had planned to add a couple of vellum clouds to the white area, but they didn’t look quite right so opted for some gold crystals instead.

Hand made card with die cut sun and stencilled rays.

To Make The Card

Start with a 6″ x 6″ white blank card and trim it down to 14cm square. Cut a piece of white card, 13.8cm x 13.8cm, ink this all over with yellow ink, make it darker at the top graduating to lighter at the bottom. Use the same yellow ink to stencil the rays of sunshine over the bottom portion of the card. Ink these quite heavily so that they stand out against the yellow background. Again graduate the colour to be darker at the top and lighter at the bottom. Here’s how the finished background looks.

Cut a piece of white card 13.8cm x 10cm, die cut it diagonally with the cloud die. With the same pass you can cut out the sun from the left side. Cut a piece of vellum 13.8cm x 8cm die cut this diagonally with the other cloud die. Adhere the vellum clouds to the back of the white clouds, you may need to cut away some of the vellum to allow the sun to show through. Adhere the clouds and sun to the top of the card.

Stamp the greeting in the bottom right corner of the card, stamp a tiny sun just above it. Add a gold crystal to the centre of the stamped sun and more to the white card area and beside the greeting to add the final decoration.

I really like the stencilled sun rays, and the effect of the layer of vellum. I hope you like it too, please leave a comment if you have a minute to spare, thank you for visiting. All the supplies used are linked below.
