Hi everyone, I wanted to make a beach/summer themed card, I thought these shells and star fish from the Ocean Scene die set were perfect. The embossing folder for the background is called Chain Link, but it looked a lot like fishing net to me, so I decided to use it.

To Make The Card

Start with a piece of white card, 14cm x 9.75, dry emboss this with the Chainlink embossing folder. Adhere this to blue card cut to 14.5cm x 10.25cm. Smoosh a small amount of Distress Oxide ink on to a craft mat, and spritz with a little water. Dip a small paintbrush into the liquid ink and flick on to the embossed layer of card.

Take a length of paper cord and split it into two strands. Run one of the strands through your finger and thumb to flatten it out. Wrap the paper cord around the two pieces of card and tie in a small bow close to the right hand side. Trim off any excess cord. Attach this panel to the front of an A6 white blank card with foam tape.

From white card die cut 4 x shells and 3 x starfish, colour these with marker pens or pencils. Cut 4 x seaweed from pale green card. Cut 2 x small stitched circles from cream card and 2 larger stitched circles from kraft card. Glue the circles together, then glue shell to the top. Adhere these to the card front, above and below the paper cord slightly overlapping it. Use 1mm adhesive foam pads so that the cord can be tucked underneath.

Glue the remaining shells, starfish and seaweed into position. Stamp the greeting onto a strip of white card and adhere it over the circular embellishments.

I like the soft fairly neutral colours on this card, and the natural feel that the kraft card and paper cord give it. Thank you for visiting, I hope you like it too. All supplies used are linked below.
