Hi everyone, I don’t know why but the cable knit embossing folder immediately made me think of hot cups of coffee. I think it’s just the whole warm and cosy thing! Anyway that was the inspiration for this card. Adding the hearts as decoration for the cups tied in nicely with the loving sentiment.

Hand made Christmas card with die cut coffee cups and knitted embossed background.

To Make The Card

Start with a white A6 blank card, cut a piece of red card a few mm smaller and dry emboss with the Cable Knit Sweater embossing folder. I used thick paper rather than card, the white core shows through in a few places but I quite liked the look so decided to keep it. Next cut a piece of white card 7cm x 12cm, die cut a stitched edge V shape from one end. Adhere the white card to the centre top of the embossed panel.

Stamp and die cut four coffee cups, two in white, one in red and one in tartan. Cut the lid section off the white ones and glue it over the lids of the coloured ones. Die cut a white belly band, I cut it down a bit by hand as I felt it was too wide and hid most of the tartan. Glue the belly band across the centre of the tartan cup. Cut two hearts, one red and one white and glue these to centre of the cups. Adhere the cups slightly overlapping to the white panel. Cut two sprigs of holly with berries and glue to the top and bottom of the cups.

To finish off add opposite coloured adhesive pearls to the centres of the hearts and red pearls to the centres of the berry clusters. Add groups of adhesive crystals to the white panel above and below the cups. Stamp the sentiment on to a strip of white card. Cut V shapes into either end and attach to the bottom of the card with adhesive foam pads.

I chose classic Christmas colours for this card but you could use any colour scheme you wanted. It makes a great card for someone you love or a coffee lover or even both. Thank you for calling in, all the supplies used are linked below.
