Hand Made Birthday Wishes Card With Inked Background

Hi, it’s been quite a while since I did any ink smooshing so it was a nice change to make this card. I picked ink colours to match with our new Lovely Watercolor Enamel Dots.

Hi, it’s been quite a while since I did any ink smooshing so it was a nice change to make this card. I picked ink colours to match with our new Lovely Watercolor Enamel Dots. I love the bright colours set off by the black background and sentiment.

Hand made birthday card with ink smooshed background and die cut sentiment.

To Make The Card

Take a 5″ x 7″ white blank card and trim it down to 12.5cm x 16.5cm. Add a layer of black card 12cm x 16cm, then use the Rectangle Die with Small Circles Decoration to cut a piece of watercolour card to 11.5cm x 15.5cm. With the first colour of ink pad, smoosh some onto a craft mat and spritz with water. Don’t dilute it too much so that the colours remain bright. Dip and press the watercolour card into the ink, then dry with a heat gun. Repeat this process bringing in the other two colours until you are happy with the appearance. Adhere the black card to the card front with the inked, watercolour card on top.

Cut the “Happy Birthday” and ” Have a Fabulous Day” sentiments from a sheet of Wordies. Use a black marker pen to go round the edges of them and colour the white core of the card. Die cut the “Wishes” sentiment twice from black card and glue them on top of one another to give it extra dimension. Glue the die cut wishes to the card with the other phrases above and below it, adhered with small foam pads. Finish off by adding some co-ordinating enamel dots.

The bright colours work really well with the black background and sentiments to create a really eye-catching card. Thank you for visiting, please leave a comment if you have a moment to spare. All the products used are linked below.
