Hi, I made this card intending it to be for a child, but looking at the finished article it would be suitable for an adult too. Whilst none of it is difficult, it includes quite a lot of elements. I wanted something very girly looking, hence the pink and lilac colour scheme, of course this could easily be changed.

To Make The Card

Start with a white 5″ x 7″ blank card. Trim it down to 12.5cm x 17.5cm, this makes it easier to cut the layers. Cut dark pink card 12cm x 17cm and adhere to the card front. Cut a piece of light pink card 11.5cm x 8.5cm, dry emboss this with the Confetti Burst embossing folder. Cut a piece of pink polka dot paper 11.5cm x 8.5cm, adhere this and the embossed panel to the card front to create the next layer. Cut pink ricrac 11.5cm wide and glue in place over the join between the polka dot and embossed pieces.

Next die cut the elements to create the birthday cake, from pink, lilac and silver card. Glue all the pieces together and add a row of adhesive pearls to the top tier. Adhere the cake to white card cut to 7.5cm x 9cm, then layer this onto purple card, 8cm x 9.5cm. Use 2mm adhesive foam tape to attach the cake panel over the ricrac centred vertically and slightly to the right side of the card.

Die cut three balloons in pink, purple and lilac, attach strands of silver embroidery silk for the strings and adhere with foam tape around the top, left corner of the cake panel. Add three pink adhesive crystals to the other corners of the cake panel. To finish stamp the greeting in purple ink on white card, backed on pink. Use adhesive foam again to adhere this below the cake.

I am very happy with the way this turned out, I like the colour scheme and all the different elements, and the classic birthday symbols of cake, candles and balloons. I think it would appeal to most little girls and with a change of colour to most little boys too! Thank you for visiting, I hope you like the card, all the products used are linked below.
