Hi, Happy New Year! This is my first card for 2023 made for my daughter, who although she turned 25 still loves anything with a cute fox on. This die cut fox from the Lawn Fawn Foxy Family die set seemed to fit the bill perfectly. For a January birthday the slightly wintery looking forest is a perfect backdrop.
To Make The Card
Start with a white A6 blank card and layer it with brown card. Die cut the bare trees from cream coloured card, trim them down to fit the card front. Ink the edges of the tree trunks and branches with brown ink.
Die cut the larger of the two foxes, along with a solid outline from white card. Colour the fox pieces with marker pens, beige for the framework and orange/brown for the body, part of the tail and head. Leave the rest of the tail, the face and the inner ears white. Colour the eyes black then slot all the pieces into the framework and glue in place onto the solid outline.
Cut a strip of light green card the same width as the brown background and approximately 3cm high. Ink the edges with brown ink and adhere across the lower part of the tree trunks. Adhere the fox to the left side of the green strip so that his back paws are level with the bottom of it. Use the same light green card to cut a set of leaves and adhere to the smaller tree branches, at different angles.
Finish off by stamping the Happy Birthday sentiment in brown ink on cream card. Trim the sentiment to leave a narrow margin all the way round, adhere to the green strip with the left end slightly tucked under the fox.
