Hi, it didn’t seem right to do a series of cards featuring stripes and not include a rainbow. Here the rainbow is made by inking stripes of colour and then decorated by re-inking with a stencil.

Hand made birthday wishes card with inked rainbow and stamped and die cut sentiment.

To Make The Card

Start with a white 5″ x 7″ blank card and trim it down to 15.5cm x 11cm. Cut a piece of white card, 15cm x 10.5cm. Use a foam ink blending tool to create a rainbow of stripes across the white card, see below for the colours used. Die cut the word “Wishes” from the top part of the inked panel and set aside. Lay the stencil over the inked panel and secure with stencil tape. Now ink through the stencil with the ink blending tool, use the same colour as each stripe but ink more heavily. This creates the subtle pattern on the rainbow section. Adhere the inked and stencilled panel to the card front.

Cut a piece of white card 15cm x 7.5cm, then die cut the bottom edge with the curved border die. Put this piece in a stamp positioning tool, lay the die cut “wishes” on to get the position for the birthday stamp. Remove the “wishes” and stamp birthday in black ink. Cut the word “wishes” again from white card and glue behind the coloured one to add depth. Now finish assembling the card, adhere the curved edge panel to the top of the card, glue the “wishes” in place and add some enamel dots in co-ordinating colours.

Although there are lots of different elements to this card, it is not difficult to make and the end result is very eye-catching. Thank you for dropping in, I hope you like the card, all the products used are linked below.
