Hi, I am always happy when I can make a Christmas card with a non-Christmas die or vice versa. In this case I have used the Spellbinders Sweet Birds On A Branch die set and coloured the birds to be robins. I was going to leave the branch bare of leaves for a wintery look but it was too much brown, the little gold leaves have really lifted it.
To Make The Card
Start with a white 5″ x 5″ blank card and layer it with red card. Cut a piece of white card 11.5cm square and emboss it with a snowfall embossing folder, then glue in place one the red layer. Die cut the branch from dark brown card and three birds from slightly lighter brown card. Cut the birds again from red card and from black. Ink the edges of the brown birds with dark brown ink and ink the wings all over to make them slightly darker. Glue the wings on to the bodies and add the red tummies. Put a small piece of adhesive tape behind the eye of each bird, add the black eyes to each bird pressing them into the appropriate place so that they stick to the tape. For the forward facing bird there is also a space for a beak. Die cut the head of the bird once again, this time in yellow and adhere the beak in the same way as the eyes.
Cut eight leaves from matt gold card and carefully trim off the stalks. Glue the leaves to the tree branches and then the whole branch to the card front. Position the birds as shown and fix in place with thin foam pads so that they sit over the branch. Die cut the background for the sentiment from red card and the wording from gold card. Glue them together and adhere to the card front below the branch.
