Hi Everyone, we recently got a range of colours of Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Powder in stock, so keen to try it out I decided to use it for the background of this card. There are a number of ways you can use Pixie Powder, for this card I opted to wet the card, apply the powder then spritz with water until I was happy with the results.

The colour is very intense and also has a slightly metallic sheen to it which is really difficult to show in the photograph but is very effective on the card itself.  All the supplies used are linked at the bottom.

Hand made mothers day card with Pixie Powder background, heat embossed flowers and die cut greeting
Start with a white A6 blank card and a piece of white water colour card stock a few millimetres smaller.
Randomly stamp the flowers around the edge of the water colour card with a clear embossing pad, heat emboss with opaque white embossing powder.
Spritz the water colour card all over with water to dampen it and allow the Pixie Powder to stick. Gently tap the bottom of the Pixie Powder bottle, holding it sideways to allow small amounts of the powder to fall onto the card. Spritz again with water and see the powder react and spread and change colour depending on how much water you add. Dry with a heat gun then add more powder and water until you are happy with the results I used Lava Red Pixie Powder and added a few touches of Rich Gold.
Die cut ‘Happy’ from white card three times and glue them on top of one another to create a dimensional greeting, adhere this to the centre of the card with glue. Stamp Mothers Day onto a strip of black card in clear embossing ink and heat emboss with opaque white. Adhere this below the ‘Happy’, across the loop of the letter Y use a 3mm foam pad at one end and glue at the other to lift it above the die cut word.
I am pleased with the way this turned out, I like the effect created by the Pixie Powder, slightly different to Distress Oxides with the metallic sheen. I am looking forward to playing with the other colours now.
Thank you for visiting, I hope you like it too.
