Hi, I love the look of shadow stamping and the muted colours with black seem perfect for a sympathy card. The black grosgrain ribbon adds some texture and dimension to an otherwise 2D card.

Hand made sympathy card with shadow stamped silhouette flowers.

To Make The Card

Start with a white A6 blank card and layer it with black card and then beige card. I used a linen finish for the beige card for extra interest.

Cut a piece of white card 6.5cm x 10.75cm, stamp the flower in black ink towards the left edge. Stamp the flower again with Versamark ink, so that it is slightly offset from the first one. Heat emboss the Versamark stamping with white embossing powder. Allow a couple of minutes for the heat embossing to cool down, then ink over the card with Frayed Burlap ink starting from the bottom left corner. Let the ink colour fade out towards the top right corner. Use a piece of kitchen roll or a dry cloth to wipe over the embossed flower to remove any ink. Mount the stamped card onto black card and tie a piece of black grosgrain ribbon around the bottom part. Tie the ribbon in a knot and trim the ends diagonally. If necessary use some double sided tape to hold the ribbon in place.

Adhere the stamped panel to the card towards the left side. Stamp the With Sympathy sentiment in black on white card, cut to a strip. Ink around the edges with Frayed Burlap, then mount it on black card. Adhere the sentiment to the card overlapping the stamped panel. Use glue at one end and a thin adhesive foam pad at the other to keep it level.

I am pleased with this card and as I mentioned I really like the colour scheme, which I think would work nicely for a Fathers Day card too! Thank you for visiting, I hope you like it. All the products used are linked below.
