Hi, this is the first card in a series of cards for children of different ages, it seemed right to start with a 1st birthday card. The card is easy to make as it is nearly all die cutting. The pink colour scheme suggests a baby girl, this could easily be changed to blue, or any other colour.

Hand made baby's first birthday card with die cut baby giraffe.

To Make The Card

Start with an A6 white blank card, and layer it with kraft card. Die cut a rectangle of cream card with a decorative edge and adhere over the kraft layer. Die cut two circles with decorative edges one in pink, 7.5cm diameter and one in kraft 6.5cm diameter. Glue one on top of the other, then glue to the centre of the card. Use the same circle dies to cut a smaller 2.5cm diameter circle from pale pink card. With dark pink card cut a number 1 and an “st” suffix, glue them to the small circle. Die cut the giraffe from light and dark pink card, assemble it then glue in place on the centre circle. Adhere the small circle next to it.

Use the dark pink card to cut the letters to make the word “baby’s”, and glue this to the top of the card above the circles. Die cut a rectangular strip from kraft card, 5.5cm x 1.5cm, again with a decorative edge. Mask off the other words to stamp just the word “Birthday” in pink ink in the centre of the strip, then adhere below the circles.

As I said it’s an easy card to make, but non the less attractive. The decorative edges to the die cut circles and rectangles add extra interest and detail. I hope you like it, it would be great if you could leave a comment below to let me know what you think. Thank you for visiting, all the supplies used are linked below.
