Hi here’s a Christmas card with a lovely rustic, shabby chic feel. I used the new Layered Poinsettia die set from Sweet Dixie for the flower which I think has turned out very nicely. The snow effect was created with embossing powder.

Hand made Christmas card with die cut poinsettia and foliage on an embossed woodgrain background.

To Make The Card

Start with a white A6 blank card and add a layer of kraft card. Take a piece of cream card 10cm x approx 13cm and die cut a scalloped design into the bottom edge, then run through with the woodgrain embossing folder. Remember to die cut first or the embossing will get flattened when you die cut. Ink around the edges and over the raised areas with brown ink. Cut a piece of patterned paper the same width as the embossed panel and approx. 5cm tall. Adhere the patterned paper to the bottom of the card front and the embossed panel to the top so that the scalloped edge overlaps the patterned paper.

Take a piece of red card and stamp in brown ink with the Old Letter background stamp. Die cut three sizes of poinsettia from this card, and a selection of foliage from green and kraft card. Ink the flowers and foliage randomly with a clear ink pad, then sprinkle with embossing powder and heat set. Add a slight curve to the flower petals by rolling them round a bamboo skewer or pencil. Glue the three layers of flower together with the petals offset, and add a gold pearl to the centre. Arrange the foliage in the top left hand area of the card and glue in place, then stick the poinsettia over it.

Stamp the greeting in brown ink on a strip of cream card. Trim the right hand end at an angle and ink around the edges with brown ink. Adhere it below the flower and foliage with adhesive foam pads.

I am very pleased with this card, I like the inked woodgrain and the snow effect on the flower and foliage. Thank you for visiting, I hope you like it too. All the products used are linked below.
