Hi here’s a card with a classic Christmas scene of Santa in his sleigh being pulled by reindeer across a night sky. I opted for a pinky/purple sky just to make a change and to make sure the black silhouette sleigh stood out well against it.
To Make The Card
Start with a white 5″ x 7″ blank card and trim it down to 17.5cm x 12.5cm, to make it easier to cut the layers. Add a layer of black card 17cm x 12cm. Cut a piece of watercolour card stock, 16.5cm x 11.5cm. Use an ink blending tool to blend ink from purple through to pink from the top down. When you are happy with the ink colours, spritz it lightly with water then dab with a dry cloth or piece of kitchen paper to create the mottled effect. Allow this to dry for a few minutes, then adhere it over the black layer.
Cut the sleigh and reindeer from black card, and a moon and several stars from silver glitter card. Arrange the sleigh and reindeer so they are across the card front diagonally from bottom left to top right. Adhere in position with thin foam pads. Glue the moon and stars above and below the sleigh. Die cut the sentiment twice, once from black card and once from silver glitter card. Glue the silver one on top of the black one, slightly offset to create a drop shadow effect. Adhere the sentiment in the bottom right hand corner of the card.
I am pleased with the way this turned out, I like the background colour and feel the silver glitter card adds just the right amount of sparkle.
