Hi Everyone, well it’s been almost 3 weeks since my last post, I don’t really know where the time has gone! I have made a couple of Christmas cards in that time but nowhere near as many as I would have liked, hopefully I can step up the pace a little bit in the coming weeks.

I loved the look of the hot foiled stags head that I used on this winter birthday card, but of course not everyone has the equipment for hot foiling so when I saw this lovely stag head die I decided we needed to stock this too.

Hand made Christmas card with die cut stags head on vellum with woodgrain background
I started with an A6 white card blank and layered that with kraft card and the wood grain patterned paper. I die cut several pine branches from green card, the stags head from kraft card and a circle from white vellum. I arranged the pine branches in the bottom right hand corner of the card so that they are visible from behind the vellum circle and glued them in place. I glued the stags head to the centre of the vellum circle and then adhered this over the pine branches using 1mm foam pads so that it is lifted slightly above the pine branches. I put the adhesive pads on the vellum behind the stags head so that they don’t show through it.
I stamped the greeting on to a small rectangle of vellum, heat embossed with gold, then mounted this on kraft card and adhered to the card front again using adhesive foam pads. The final thing was to add a scattering of gold adhesive metal gems.
I like the slightly rustic feel of this card and the way the wood grain and pine branches show through the vellum, the gold gems and heat embossing add just enough shine to the card. I hope you like it too. Thanks for visiting. All products are linked below.
